Jury Statement:
Order and disorder, order and chaos are fundamental phenomena of cosmology as well as everyday life, of art as well as housework. The statements "bringing order to chaos" and "bringing order to chaos" (Adorno), applied to artistic endeavors, are constant processes to which even the tidying housewife is subject.
With her installation, Joanna Schulte wittily and humorously points to the value and worthlessness of this Sisyphean task, thereby creating an allegory that even touches upon the cosmological conditions of entropy. The concept takes into account both the glorification and aestheticization of everyday objects used to create order, as well as the ordinary manual labor itself, which "opens the space of meditative emptiness with the freedom for dreamlike, creative mental work" (JS):
Thus, the inescapable principle of order-disorder reflects both the everyday struggle of the cleaning woman and that of the artist.
